XeQueBo 2018 – Valencia, Spain

Before Tourney:

Three day weekend, can’t wait to hit the sand and throw some plastic around! It’ll be the first high level tournament I’ve played since Worlds in July. I’m playing with Sabotage in the Men’s division.

During Tourney:

After Tourney:

We had an amazing time! It was my first time playing with many of these people, and we had a blast!

Results in the second half of the tournament didn’t go as well as planned, but regardless we had an amazing time!

As an added bonus, I was asked to commentate the finals. You can watch those videos here:

Lubbock, Texas, and the South Plains Fair!

After the wedding, a quick trip to see my family in West Texas was in order. Since I live abroad, I don’t get to see most of my family as much as I’d like. Little ones like my niece and nephew get so big so fast!

So why is the fair so famous? Well food, of course!

There were moments of joy.

Followed by moments of crying.

Guess when you’re that little, those cars move really fast!

Don’t forget about the livestock and tractors, we are in West Texas after all!

What do you think Miranda, did you have a good time?

Overall, good times!

My sister got married!

Congratulations to my beautiful sister and her new husband! I wish them nothing but the best for the rest of their lives. It’s a beautiful thing to see how happy they make each other.

It was an amazing trip, one that I wouldn’t have missed for the world! I showed up just in time for the rehearsal dinner, which of course, was Texas BBQ.

Jpeg

I got to spend some quality time with my neice and nephew, who are getting big!

The ceremony was beautiful as well!

Once that was over, we had a great time dancing the night away!

Relax at the beach!

After works, what better way to what better way to wind-down than a bike ride to the beach? We are so lucky that this place is 15 minutes away!

There’s a steep hill to go down to get to this beach, and it wasn’t the nicest of days, but I almost like it better this way, that way not as many people show up and we had almost the whole beach to ourselves!

Laredo Beach Cup

Last weekend in Laredo, Cantabria we played in the first annual (can you say first annual?) Laredo Beach Cup.

It took place on one of the longest beaches I’ve ever been to, which I was reminded of when we parked on the other end of it.

Unfortunately, my team, Corocotta, couldn’t make the trip. Instead, I played with Polbo, a team from Galicia. It was my first time playing with them, and a great experience! They’ve truly got a great group of people!

We came in second place, winning all our games up until the final. Full results can be found on ulti.info.

I’m officially an Automattician!

As some of you may know, I’m proud to say, I started a new job at Automattic last month! It’s been a time of change in my life, to say the least. New job, new house, and of course, an updated blog!

Yeah, that’s right, Automattic is a distributed company with 775 Automatticians in 67 countries speaking 83 different languages. That means I can work from home, or, I can work from anywhere! Normally, I work from home, but why not take advantage and work from the beach sometimes?

My official job title: Happiness Engineer! What is a Happiness Engineer, well, the best way to answer that question would be directly from the source: https://happinessengineer.blog

Long-lost WordPress.com South America Blog

I came across an old blog of mine from 2012. It was short-lived, but documented the two months I spent in Ecuador and Colombia. Who would’ve thought in 2012 that six years later I would start working for WordPress.com!? You never know, but this was my first taste of WordPress.com. I went for a Wedding, but there was frisbee played in Colombia (of course), scuba diving in the Caribbean, and more! The blog was short-lived and has been dormant for a while, but it’s still alive!

After Worlds! A whirlwind trip around California in 9 days

It all began in Chicago, in more ways than one.

That’s my Great-Grandfather Ned Merriam’s HOF plaque, a 2011 inductee to the University of Chicago Athletics Hall of Fame!

After Chicago, we had a planned five hour lay-over in Austin, TX. No, it was no accident, it was to visit my sister!

After a quick stop-over in Austin, we had some quality family time in Sacramento and Lake Tahoe!

When Yosemite is closed for fires, find the closest watering hole!
